The SWISS Academy of International Law (SAIL) is launching the Center of Excellence for Sustainable International Development (CESID) to support the development of educational programs study the complex international issues with a focus on environmental management and ecology, towards Interdisciplinary and cross-boundary collaboration.
Project goal: to create an international educational platform working within the framework of Swiss legislation and UN principles, in close cooperation between science and education.
We invite everyone, regardless of nationality, color, religion and political views, who shares the UN principles and is ready to respect different opinions, to cooperate in education and in solving common problems of sustainable development and creating a peaceful and prosperous Planet, eliminating barriers between the countries of the West and the Global South.
The mission of the Center is to introduce modern standards of education in the training and retraining of different levels of students: undergraduates, specialists, postgraduates from countries of different orientations, both from the Western world and the Global South, including countries of the former USSR, involving them in joint problem solving and mutual understanding.
The main task of the project is to introduce modern educational standards in the training of students of different levels of education and in the retraining of diploma holders, involving them in the joint solution of the following problems:
Development of political, economic, legal, technological mechanisms and ways to realize Sustainable Development Goals and global climate change mitigation targets at both international and national levels
Adaptation/mitigation of climate change and green agenda, through training and development of their interdisciplinary/green/social skills
Risk management and the selection of adaptation measures in the face of global climate change using economic methods
Global energy systems with a focus on renewable energy in the transition period of sustainable development
Environmental responsibility of business/management
Establishing interethnic contacts, adapting to the geopolitical situation, and realizing the goals of educational diplomacy
The offer is based on research in environmental sciences, climate/international and environmental law/climate engineering and management; courses and programs developed in partner universities from both EU, FSU and third countries.
CEST offers a unique synthesis of humanities and natural science disciplines, which allows to complement the routine program of training and retraining of students and specialists, on the one hand, meteorologists/climatologists/ecologists with additional competences in international climate and environmental law and environmental and economic management and, on the other hand, to provide lawyers, jurists, economists, international lawyers with additional knowledge in the field of climate agenda and international legal and economic issues.
The training is supposed to be conducted in small groups using both physical sites and online resources/technical tools, with the creation of an individual educational trajectory in one or more selected areas/courses, with accompanying laboratory classes, specialty exercises, discussions and mini-projects, internships in international companies and organizations.
